Song by Casting Crowns

Ever hear a song and it speaks to your soul. Sometimes it is in good ways and sometimes in bad ways. This one haunts me but not for the reason it should. This one haunts me because I know her, I see her in the mirror every day, even though I do have the hope. Does that mean that my hope is worthless, no, I don't think so. It just means that I still have a long way to go and that I am still human. It expresses so clearly the lonliness I deal with every single day of my life. I am lucky. Lucky because I have the 'hope' expressed in the song. That 'hope' is what keeps me getting up every day and walking forward when I sometimes just want to lie down and quit trying. But it also says something about what we, as a church family, SHOULD be doing that we are not. We have hurting and broken people all around us and not all of them are outside the church walls. Family, means loving everyone, not just the select few that you consider to be worthy. Family, means reaching out to those who are hurting. Family, means building people up and giving them encouragement instead of tearing them apart and critizing every single thing they do. Well lets be truthfull here. Family usually are the people that hurt you more than any other becuase they know all your little secrets and know exactly what buttons to push lol. What family really means to me - is people who defend you to the death and tell you that they love you every day, but will drive you insaine. LOL!! So, what is this post about, I am not sure. I just wanted to post the lyrics of this song. It does haunt me, both for the girl outside the church in the shadow of the steeple who is so very lost and for the woman sitting on the pew inside so very broken. Both of them need compassion and love and encouragement. But mostly they need to feel wanted, something neither of them truly has.

She is running
A hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
She is trying
But the canyon's ever widening
In the depths of her cold heart
So she sets out on another misadventure just to find
She's another two years older
And she's three more steps behind

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

She is yearning
For shelter and affection
That she never found at home
She is searching
For a hero to ride in
To ride in and save the day
And in walks her prince charming
And he knows just what to say
Momentary lapse of reason
And she gives herself away

Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me
Does anybody hear her? Can anybody see?

If judgment looms under every steeple
If lofty glances from lofty people
Can't see past her scarlet letter
And we've never even met her

Does anybody hear her? Does anybody see?
Or does anybody even know she's going down today
Under the shadow of our steeple
With all the lost and lonely people
Searching for the hope that's tucked away in you and me

He is running a hundred miles an hour in the wrong direction
