Where once there was an echo
of reverberating screams,
is now an empty silence
holding only broken dreams.
What once was heartsick worry
with endless falling tears,
is now just numb dispassion
looking down the empty years.
What once was faith in friendship
sure of how the world would be,
now rides the waves of truth
drifting damaged on the sea.
I really thought I knew you
sure forever friends,
but the broken heart of truth
is how the story ends.
There is no burning sorrow
nothing bitter, sad, or pained
just a empty dull acceptance
what's lost can never be regained.
