I found a plateau. The spiral stopped spinning and I was able to face my feelings and start looking up. Arming myself with Malachi and Ezekiel I accepted some truths and made some decisions. Then, as I started to reach to climb up, the sides fell in. Doesn’t change the fact that I need to make some changes in my life, but right now it hurts so much I can’t breathe. And the friendships of the past truly slip away on secret feet that trip in the light.
Heartbeat
In a single heartbeat the truth is reveled.
The bonds of love and friendship fall
Like luminance raindrops of shimmering glass
With soundless explosions they shatter on the ground
Filling the air with the buzz of countless shards
Shooting into their target of soft tissue and bone
Not strong enough to kill, but leaving no place untouched
When the last tear falls there is only the darkness
That eats at the broken and bleeding soul
With punctured lungs and still beating heart.

I don’t know what tomorrow holds; right now I just have to get through today.
One breath at a time, one tear at a time, until I can once again face the endless night. No fault but my own in loving too much and trusting in anyone other than God. For in the end all friendships fade leaving behind only empty memories carried by the ones who are left behind.
